Heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia is a genetic condition that affects 1 in 250 to 300 people and is associated with the development of premature cardiovascular disease.
The Spanish Familial Hypercholesterolemia Foundation (FHF) is a national patient-focused Charity that was stablished in Madrid in 1997 by patients, with inherited high cholesterol, as well as researchers and health professionals. www.colesterolfamiliar.org
The FHF is committed to raising awareness of inherited high cholesterol to delay or to prevent the onset of cardiovascular disease, as well as to improve clinical and therapeutic research to control this hereditary disorder.
As a result of this research, the FH Foundation has developed an accurate tool to estimate the risk of incident cardiovascular events.
